Hubbert Construction began in 1957 working with local contractors in the Peterborough area. It started with one machine and grew from there as time went on. (The picture below was taken in 1958)

The axis of residential growth in the 1960's in the Peterborough area was North and West and Hubbert's played a major roll in the preparation of the land for residential homes to be built. One of those areas was known as the North End Land Assembly which is the area of homes North of Hilliard Street. During the 70's Kawartha Heights subdivision was a main development for the Hubbert's. With the increase in housing brought the demand for screened topsoil and Hubbert's was one of the original suppliers of screened topsoil in the Peterborough and surrounding area.
